Weekly round-up from your local Neighbourhood Team |

Dear Residents
An update from your local Sherbourne Police Team.
STREETWATCH
We add this information to the message service each week, however, we are now actively looking for Street watch volunteers who would like to join us in a regular patrol of your community. The patrol can be for as long as you are available for on a day of your choosing and is a proactive way of noticing things that need attention where you live. It is also a good way of meeting other residents that want to make a difference in their communities.
GET INVOLVED Street watch is a community patrol initiative that helps you make a difference where you live. Street watch gives you and your community an opportunity to keep your area safe, including just walking round your neighbourhood, which can really help. Local police keep in regular contact with street watch members to share information and work in partnership with you. You will also be patrolling with your local PCSO’s once a month.

CRIME UPDATE
A burglary has been reported in Welgarth Avenue. Offenders gained access from the rear of the property, conducted an untidy search, found the victim’s car keys and made off in the victim’s vehicle. Enquiries are still ongoing.
WHAT’S BEEN HAPPENING
It’s a busy time of year and more people are out and about in our communities. Please be aware of people around you when out shopping and do not leave belongings on show in your vehicles. Officers will be out and about on foot patrol conducting OP Servator deployments at locations like retail parks and the City Centre on the look out for suspicious behaviour.
Officers have again been recovering untaxed vehicles in the neighbourhood. We have had success removing several cars from the road for no tax. Likewise, we have seen an increase in people driving their vehicles with just a provisional licence. Provisional licence holders should only drive a vehicle if they have L plates on the car and somebody with them that holds a full licence. You are not insured on the vehicle if you do not have these things in place and we can recover the vehicle.
And finally……
Please stay safe over the festive period. At this time of year we see an increase in burglary and vehicle theft. Ensure your properties are secure when you are in your property and when you leave it. Where applicable ensure your house alarms are set when you leave. Check in on elderly and vulnerable neighbours making our communities a safer place.
We wish you a very Merry Christmas and a peaceful New Year.
